Housing Infrastructure Uplift Project (380 Solar PoP15)

Good Afternoon

As you may already be aware, ACHIA NSW is currently inviting interested Aboriginal Community Housing Providers (ACHPs) to submit an expression of Interest (EOI) for the Housing Infrastructure Uplift Project (380 Solar PoP15).  Please see the EOI package attached for full details, including the EOI form in fillable PDF format for easy completion.

Key Information

Project Title:                 380 Panels of Power to approx. 15 Homes
Issued By:                      ACHIA NSW in partnership with METIO (www.metio.com.au)
EOI Deadline:               Friday, 17 January 2025 to admin@achiansw.org.au

Project Summary:      METIO is a social enterprise that supports groups and organisations building with and for their communities. METIO is a Subject Matter Expert (SME) within the ACHIA NSW’s pool of SMEs that recently participated in ACHIA NSW’s 2nd Deadly Housing Summit, held on 30-31 October 2024 at the Novotel Northbeach in Wollongong.

METIO and ACHIA NSW are partnering due to a unique opportunity (at LOW or NO cost) that is available in March 2025. Here are the details:

  • 380 solar panels will be removed from an existing entity
  • the panels will be available for delivery after March 2025
  • there are a sufficient number of solar panels to power approximately 15 homes across 1-3 LGAs that share a boundary
  • the panels have a remaining lifespan of 15 years
  • the panels come without other donated infrastructure that is required to make the solar panels operate (e.g. inverters, cabling, installation costs)
  • the panels being donated are suitable for use on individual dwellings; they are not suitable for use as a solar bank to distribute power across a community
  • ACHIA and METIO are working with a range of community and industry partners with the aim of minimising costs to an ACHP as part of the installation, however, there are likely to be conditions such as all solar panels must be used on properties that are located within 3 adjoining Local Government Areas

A financial contribution from an ACHP MAY be required to make the project stack up, however, this shouldn’t deter an EOI.  As mentioned below, the project is intended to be LOW to NO cost.  Any costs will be known in advance and any specific costs agreed to by the successful ACHP before works begin. Associated costs may include the following: acquisition of inverters, installation onto ACHP property roofs, cabling, trade labour etc. However, ACHIA and METIO are working hard to minimise any contribution that may be required.

You can contact Simon Wade, Director – Sector Development at simon.w@achiansw.org.au or on 0491 208 899 if you have any questions or would like support in completing your EOI.

Yours Sincerely

Lisa D Sampson
